Just like that and we are already half way through the racing season! That does not mean that things are starting to slow down, more so the opposite. This gets to be the busy season of when points are finishing up then the Bracket Finals races as well as any big dollar events towards the close of the season.
Sunday takes us back to Dragway 42 were I had planned a sort of mission for myself. With just a hand full of races left and going into the weekend seven rounds behind first place, I chose to try to follow in the number one guy at some point in the day to try to minimize that lead as best I could. Who better to decide my fate then myself right? I ended up not getting my chance first round but made it through with an easy win when my opponent was headed towards my lane and chose to lift rather then running into me! So second round was my chance. I hurried up & put fuel the car, got in and positioned myself to were if I saw any sight of him going up I had a clear shot. It turned out to work perfectly me and the number one spot holder get paired up for round two. It turned out to be a pretty good race. My .02 light to his .03 light and both over our dials by about .01 with me grabbing the win by .011 at the stripe. I should also note that is probably one of the few times that has worked for me. Normally when you take a chance like that it usually back fires big time! I continued to lay down decent runs up until the semi finals losing at four cars in what was an almost exact opposite of round two, I was .03 to my opponents .02 and now being behind at the finish line .008 and both of us being in .01. All in all it was still a productive day I made good stride to the number one spot and hopefully we can avoid the bonehead moves and make it there before the end of the year!
This weekend coming up is something I harldy ever do or atleast try not to, I’m not going racing! Saturday even though it is a SMP points race I will miss it for a good friends wedding (Rain, Rain, Rain,Please just at the track though) and Dragway 42 has no points racing scheduled. So Sunday may just be a good day to pull the car out and give everything a once over before busy season starts!
